| Dear Editor:
Susan Happ, a candidate for Jefferson County District Attorney recently received the endorsement of two prominent unions directly linked to local law enforcement -- the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Officers’ Association Local 102 and the Wisconsin County Police Association. To understand the magnitude of these endorsements, you must first understand that these endorsements are unprecedented – they have never been given in a District Attorney’s race. Never. The Jefferson County Law Enforcement Officers’ Association Local 102 represents all Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives -- 85 members in all. The Wisconsin County Police Association represents county deputy sheriffs with over 2000 members throughout the State of Wisconsin.
These endorsements were not given lightly, but are a measure of our confidence in Susan Happ’s courtroom abilities and her experience, something her opponent’s supporters have tried to attack lately. Our deputies and detectives have worked with Susan Happ for the past ten years. We have seen both candidates in the courtroom setting. Susan Happ is clearly the most qualified candidate for District Attorney, and we are proud to endorse her.
Dave Drayna,
Vice President of the Local 102
