I read with amusement David Wambach’s endorsement of his chosen successor for Jefferson County District Attorney. Mr. Wambach’s protégé, just two years out of law school, has a poor record of gaining convictions.
In 2007, he lost 4 of 9 jury trials. One trial he “won” that year was vacated on appeal and dismissed. 2007 success rate: 44 percent.
So far in 2008, Mr. Wambach’s protégé lost 4 of the 7 trials he has prosecuted. 2008 success rate: 43 percent.
44 percent conviction rate in 2007? 43 percent conviction rate in 2008? The numbers speak for themselves. Jefferson County deserves better.
Mr. Wambach should be embarrassed.
