LAW ENFORCEMENT UNIONS ENDORSE HAPP

JEFFERSON, WI – Susan Happ, candidate for Jefferson County District Attorney, announced today that she has received the endorsement of two prominent unions directly linked to local law enforcement -- the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Officers’ Association Local 102 and the Wisconsin County Police Association.

The Jefferson County Law Enforcement Officers’ Association Local 102 represents all Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives -- 85 members in all. The Wisconsin County Police Association represents county deputy sheriffs with over 2000 members throughout the State of Wisconsin. “Our deputies and detectives have seen both candidates in the courtroom setting,” said Dave Drayna, Vice President of the Local 102. “Susan Happ is clearly the most qualified candidate for District Attorney, and we are proud to endorse her.”

Happ is also endorsed by two current Jefferson County Assistant District Attorneys, former Jefferson County District Attorney Linda Larson, former Jefferson County Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Kennebeck, six current Jefferson County Sheriff’s detectives, nine deputy sheriffs, a detective sergeant, three sergeants, a captain, numerous other law enforcement officers, attorneys and community leaders.

Happ reiterated how honored she is to have received endorsements from these unions and so many leaders in law enforcement and the Jefferson County community, noting that she has strong support from Republicans, Democrats and Independents. “I’ve made clear from the beginning of my campaign that I believe that the District Attorney should be a nonpartisan office,” Happ said. “It’s unfortunate that so many politicians seem to work so hard to find ways to divide us. I want to unite us.” Happ stressed the need to stay focused on the real issues rather than partisan politics. “This campaign is about who is most qualified to effectively prosecute those who commit crime, who is most qualified to manage the District Attorney’s office, and who is most qualified to work with the people who deal with crime and its effects on a daily basis,” Happ said. “These endorsements speak volumes about my qualifications to be the next Jefferson County District Attorney, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the faith these people and organizations have placed in me through these endorsements.”
